The horn of Africa is in the midst of drought, yet here in Nabilatuk- also in the horn- we are experiencing heavy rains. Roads are impassable, bridges are out, fields are flooded- even mud slides have claimed lives.
One of the big concerns in Northern Karamoja is the influx of refugees from Kenya and Sudan, together with hundreds of their livestock's- looking for food ans pasture. They all speak the same language, and share the same culture.
You'd think that would help- but part of the culture is to take one another's cattle. Tensions are high, people are hungry...Food aid is coming from the UN, but its not enough. I'll be in the north next week.
