just a quick note to let you all know we covet your prayers. Tom and I are holed up in Fresno, CA at a fantastic member care spot for missionaries and pastors. its been a valuable time of retreat and laying struggles at the feet of the Lord. My body, heart and soul continue to be challenged and strengthened.
body parts -Most of the numbness in my left arm in gone, but the right elbow area is still giving my alot of pain and I'm writing exclusively with my left. This all stems back to my neck injury, when i had the disc replacement in Belgium in 2009 - so I'll take 1-2 weeks in Ghent on the way back to Uganda. I'm in physical therapy 3x a week for 2.5 hours - where the team works on my ankle, neck and arms. I just got the ok to start walking about 2 weeks ago - the deep skin infections have cleared and soon i'll be running! Being near Yosemite has helped.
Tomorow i'll be back in cardiology for a 4 hour stress test - echo and cadiolyte (nuclear imaging) and this will be repeated again next Friday as a resting test. The most combersome part of the heart testing is that I can't eat or drink (even water) for 4 hours before the test, as well as the 4 hours of the test.
i miss Karamoja and the team immensely, but this is the time to heal and i'm grateful for the luxery to have this opportunity to do exactly that. thanks for your prayers and support.

Oh Jean, our hearts hurt for you so much. We miss you guy and love you. I'm sorry you're hurting. Wish we were close by...
ReplyDeletethanks for your love.. wishing you were close by too
DeleteJean, I'm not sure what to say. Yours and Tom's health will still be a forefront in my prayers. I wish I could take some of your suffering. I believe you have the strength, but I'm sorry you have to endure this. I'm very sorry to hear you are this ill still; however, I'm glad to hear there is progress. Since you are in the states, how about an address for a care package that doesn't come with extra tariffs because you are in Uganda? Regardless, you know I hope for the best for you and yours in His name. BTW, Yosemite is awesome! I lived there for a while. Hopefully Yosemite's glory with give some aid. In the park they call it Yo-see-mite :). I love you both and look forward to better days ahead. PLEASE take care of yourself :)

DeleteMeanwhile - i started running last week, first time since Dec. Then a few days ago swam a mile and had no numbness/tingling in my arms - first time in 3 months. Cardio tests came back swimmingly, too. Meanwhile we are getting some needed counseling to dig thru marriage and management issues that have been plaguing us. May the Lord be at the center - this is tough..
